Multi-parameter Photometer for Swimming Pools

          Swimming pool water parameters, like chlorine and pH need to be monitored daily. Chlorine in fact, is used in swimming pools to disinfect water, but its effectiveness depends on the pH value.

If these parameters are not constantly checked, a growth of micro-organisms dangerous to health can occur.

On the other side, if the chlorine level is too high, beside the use of chemical products, the water takes on an unpleasant smell and it can cause eye irritation.

Cyanuric acid is used as a stabilizing agent for chlorine, especially in summer months or in heated pools. Alkalinity and hardness controls are equally important, as they permit the maintenance of water in a balanced condition and they prevent corrosion or deposit problems.

HI 83216 and HI 83226 are practical electronic photometers designed to monitor these parameters. The measuring procedure is simple: just put a sample in the cuvet and zero the meter. Then add reagents and insert the cuvet again in the meter. The analysis result will be shown on the display. With HI 83216, the 6 most important parameters for swimming pools, such as pH, free, total chlorine and alkalinity can be measured. With HI 83226 also bromine, ozone and metals like iron and copper can be analyzed.
